    "Running Forever - Injury Free" 

    Speaker:  Todd Shatynski, MD 

    Dr. Todd Shatynski is a Sports Medicine physician at Capital Region Orthopaedics in Albany and is a Medical Director of the Mohawk Hudson River Marathon and Half Marathon.  Topics will include:

    - Preventing running injuries;

    - Recognizing conditions that predispose runners to injury;

    - Recognizing injuries that need attention.

    This clinic is sponsored by HMRRC and is part of the Mohawk Hudson River Marathon and Half Marathon training clinic series.  . Attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York.

    19th Anniversary of the Indian Ladder Trail Runs

    Come join us for the 19th annual Indian Ladder Trail Runs on Sunday, August 4, 2013.

    Trail runs of 15k and 3.5 mile distances in majestic John Boyd Thacher State Park.  There will also be a 1 mile Kid's run.

    15k begins at 9:00 am and the 3.5 miler starts at 11:00 am.  The Kid's 1 mile run will begin at 11:30 am.

    Early registration rates until July 21.
    Day of race registration will be available beginning at 7:45 am.

    Each runner receives entry to the park, Headsweats running hat (first 250 registered for the 15k or 3.5m race) and post race refreshments.

    Directions

    From Albany: I-90 to Exit 4, Route 85 West for 11.5 miles to top of Salem hill, Right on Route 157 for 4 miles to Thacher Park.

    From Altamont: Route 156 (up the hill), Left at Route 157, Follow signs to Thacher Park.

    Awards to Overall Male and Female Winners, 5 year age group winners (2 deep).

    Scholastic Division (age 11-19) during the 3.5 mile Race featuring the 18th Anniversary of the NYS Parks Commissioner's Cup Challenge.

    I know that trail running is a potentially hazardous activity.  I attest that I am physically fit and sufficiently trained to compete in this event.  I agree to abide by any decision of a race official relative to my ability to safely complete the run.  I assume all the risks associated with running in this event, including but not limited to falls, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather, including high heat and humidity, traffic and the conditions of the road, all such risks being known and appreciated by me.  Having read this waiver and in consideration of your acceptance of my entry, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release the Hudson-Mohawk Road Runners Club,  the State of New York, New York State Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation and Thacher State Park, their sponsors and officials, representatives and successors from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event, even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons or organizations named in this waiver.  I also understand that the use of headphones, ear buds, or other listening devices during this race is prohibited and may result in my disqualification.

    "Running Doesn't Equal Weigh Loss!! Nutritional Strategies for Achieving Ideal Weight and Performance for Runners"

    Presenter:  Judy Torel

    Need some guidance on nutrition that will enhance your marathon experience and better prepare you for a PR on the course?   This is the clinic for you!  

    Judy Torel has been in the fitness industry since 1983 and is currently the owner of Judy Torel's Coaching and Training Studio in Albany.  She is a 6 time Ironman Triathlete, Master's Woman Winner of a 24 hour Ultra Run and has completed a dozen marathons.  She is a USAT Certified Coach, ACSM Certified Health Fitness Specialist, a Healthexcel Certified Metabolic Typing Consultant, and Yoga Instructor.
